Horta na Escola
To promote waste reduction, citizenship and life quality in school, LIPOR developed a project called ‘A Vegetable Garden in School’.
Our purpose is to set up a small vegetable garden so that students, teachers and staff can enjoy the vegetables and other plants growned by themselves.
The Project has 7 different stages:
1 – Application - School must fill in an Application Form
2 – Visit - Students visit Horta da Formiga
3 - Lipor visits School
This is very important to explain the project to the teacher in charge in order to get them involved and understand their responsibility in the project. The project is hands-on. We show how to do it but students have to do it themselves so they can do it in the future without help.
4 – Composting - LIPOR’s technician visits the school to build a compost bin with the students.
5 – Set up Vegetable garden - LIPOR’s technician visits the school to help setting up the vegetable garden
6 – Evaluation - LIPOR’s technician contacts the school to evaluate the progress of the project.
7 – Maintenance - LIPOR’s technician visits the school to check and help to maintain the vegetable garden.
